Sicilian Almond Granita

How to make the typical Sicilian summer dessert

INGREDIENTS
- 500 ml Dalli Cardillo Almond Milk drink
- 150/200 g sugar
- 300 ml water

 

PREPARATION
Pour the water and the sugar into a small saucepan and cook until the sugar is completely dissolved. Let the syrup cool down and add it to the Dalli Cardillo Almond Milk drink. Once the two mixtures are mixed together, pour into a plastic or metal container and put it in the freezer for at least six hours: for a better result, stir the mixture thoroughly every 30/60 minutes to obtain granita with a granulated texture. Alternatively, if you have an ice-cream machine, pour the mixture into it and after obtaining the desired texture the granita can be consumed immediately; it is possible to enrich it with crushed almonds and taste it together with a brioche or a piece of cake.
